    Micro Plough completes testing

    Vessel & ROV News // April 29, 2004
SMD Hydrovision in the UK reports that its new MCP2 Micro Plough system has successfully completed a comprehensive factory and beach testing programme.

The plough is an evolution of a concept used on a previous SMD plough designed to bury small diameter cable deployed from an on board cable pack.

The MCP2 has been designed completely from scratch, and is an excellent example of SMD working very closely with a client to develop the plough specification and testing program to meet very specific criteria.

Key concepts were extensively tested at various stages in the development program. The completed plough underwent a comprehensive factory test programme before undergoing a week of rigorous trials on the Northumberland coast.

During beach trials the plough was put through its paces including operation in the surf zone; traversing slopes in excess of 30 and negotiating various obstacles.
