Norwegian naval architects Marin Teknikk have confirmed that Olympic Shipping AS has ordered 1 + 1 Multi Purpose Field Supply and Construction Vessel at Kleven Maritime in Norway. Delivery is scheduled for January and June 2012.
Marin Teknikk has signed a contract with Kleven Maritime for a design and engineering package for the orders for a new offshore design, the MT 6015.
”These contracts are highly welcome for both Kleven Verft and Kleven Maritime, contributing to our capacity being fully utilized the next two years” said Kleven Maritime's CEO Ståle Rasmussen.
For Marin Teknikk the contract is also very welcome and will secure work for MT staff over the next year.
The new vessels are a new type of environmentally friendly multipurpose vessels, in which much attention has been focussed on fuel economy, low emissions and large capacities both above and below deck.
The newbuilds will have Ice C class notation and will be equipped for oil recovery operations (NOFO 2009). Their deadweight is 4,800 tonnes, length 93.8m, beam 20m, and the deck space amounts to 1,060 m2. The accommodation area has a capacity of 60 persons.
The MT 6015s will be built in accordance with the new SPS code, and will include facilities that will make the vessel well suited to ROV and subsea construction work.
