Mermaid Endurer delivered by Bergen GroupYard News // July 14, 2010
Seabrokers reports that the latest vessel from Norway’s prolific Bergen Group has recently been delivered to Mermaid Offshore Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore listed Mermaid Maritime PCL.
Mermaid Endurer is a purpose-built DP2 DSV with diesel-electric propulsion. The vessel features a fully built-in and classed 18-man single bell saturation diving system rated to 300m water depth, including a self-propelled hyperbaric lifeboat.
Dive gas storage cylinders are located below main deck level, leaving all back deck space for project equipment. A 100 tonne active heave compensated knuckleboom crane enables Mermaid Endurer to perform light construction operations. The vessel’s class notation includes Clean Design and Comfort Class.
The vessel is equipped with numerous offices, a conference room, hospital, gymnasium, recreation rooms, an internet lounge, a cinema and a sauna. Accommodation comprises 86 berths, and all cabins have en suite bathrooms.
Mermaid Endurer, which is the fourth DSV in Mermaid’s fleet, will be marketed in Europe via KD Marine of Aberdeen with whom Mermaid recently entered an Alliance Agreement under which both parties will co-operate to provide fully integrated saturation, air diving, daughter craft and ROV services.
The vessel was originally contracted by GDV, later Aquanos Offshore AS, and was subsequently purchased by Mermaid for approximately US$91 million.
