Groupe Bourbon in France has unveiled the next phase of its investment plan, which it is calling its "2015 Leadership Strategy," a US$2 billion vessel newbuilding programme which will see it replace older vessels and invest in new vessels for deep water and continental shelf operations.
"With this plan covering 2011 to 2015, Bourbon wants to achieve leadership under the flag of excellence," said Jacques de Chateauvieux, CEO of Bourbon.
Mr de Chateauvieux said that, under the plan, Bourbon will invest in 80 new OSVs and 64 crewboats and plans to be operating a fleet of 600 vessels by the year 2015.
Bourbon's plan follows-on from the success of its Bourbon Liberty series of vessels, which has seen large number of anchor handlers and PSVs built in China to common designs.
Bourbon said it also plans to invest in efficieny to reduce operating costs and recruit around 5,000 new personnel.
