Norwegian ship design company Skipsteknisk, which specializes in designing offshore
support and survey vessels, seismic research vessels, fishery and oceanographic
research vessels and large fishing vessels, has opened a representative office in
In a statement, the company said that it has experienced increasing interest in its
services in Asia and the decision was taken last year to open a local office to better serve clients in the region.
The office is located in Xuhui District Shanghai, and is managed by Mr Li Xiao-Liang.
Mr Li Xiao-Liang is a trained naval architect and has previous experience working with the engine supplier Wartsila China Ltd and Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute.
Skipsteknisk already has already several projects ongoing in China. Among these is a new seismic research vessel of ST-327 design for China Oilfield Services Ltd, which is currently under construction at Shanghai Shipyard.
Another project is the building of a fishery and oceanographic research vessel of ST-367 design for a Russian client, to be built at Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding.
