Dust-affected flights make vessels an attractive option in North Sea

    News // April 21, 2010

Broker Offshore Shipbrokers Limited (OSL) says the ongoing uncertainty in the aviation world as to how long airports in the UK will remain closed, or how long those that have reopened will remain open (bceause of the volcanic activity in Iceland) means that there are a growing number of oil companies chartering vessels for passenger transfers.

"There was fresh demand on the market this morning in the form of BP Norway’s West Alpha rig move. Team also remain outstanding with their cargo requirement as are a handful of other Charterers with their respective demands," said OSL, noting that vessel availability remains extremely limited across the North Sea currently.
