More newbuilds delivered by Norwegian yardsVessel & ROV News // April 7, 2010
Broker Seabrokers says several more newbuilds were delivered from Norwegian yards in March, starting off with the Havyard 832CD design PSV Seabed Viking which was handed over to managers Eidesvik on 5th March by the Fjellstrand yard. The 78.6 m long DP2 vessel has diesel-electric propulsion driving 2 x 1600 kW main azimuthing
Schottel thrusters capable of achieving a maximum speed of approx 14.5 knots.
Since delivery the vessel has been employed in the North Sea spot market but is forward fixed to AGR from mid-May on a 3 well + 4 option well contract supporting
the semi Bredford Dolphin.
Said Seabrokers: "Orders with a total value of Nkr 1.3 billion were placed at Norwegian yards in 2009 but this represented a decline of 90 per cent compared to 2008. Unless there is an upturn soon some Norwegian yards will start running out of work next year."
