Greatship Maya, a newly delivered geotechnical vessel owned by Greatship and chartered to Rieber Shipping's partner Bluestone Offshore's set sail on 11 February from Townsville, Australia to the Great Barrier Reef with an international team of researchers onboard.
Over a period of six weeks, the new vessel will be conducting a series of studies to determine the response of coral to sudden sea-level change and climate change.
Coral core samples will be collected at a depth of 160m and undergo basic examination on Gratship Maya before being transferred to a core repository in Germany.
