    Vessel & ROV News // January 12, 2010

Various sources report that Harvey Gulf International Marine in New Orleans has awarded Eastern Shipbuilding Group a contract for the construction of six 292ft x 64ft x 24ft 6in OSVs. Delivery of the first vessel is planned in 19, with the other vessels following at five month intervals.

Marinelog reports that the six 5,650 dwt 'Tiger Shark' series vessels are designed for worldwide operations, meeting all the latest MARPOL and IMO regulations. They will be classed by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) including FIFI 1, DP2, and ENVIRO notations.

Marinelog said each vessel will offer 11,000 square feet of clear deck space and cargo capacities of: 19,500 bbl liquid mud, 14,350 cu. ft dry bulk, and 1,700 bbl methanol.
They will have a Converteam-supplied diesel electric propulsion system, powered by four Cummins QSK60M diesel generators rated at 1,825kW and with Schottel Z-drives rated for a total propulsion output of 5,000kW.

"The vessels follow a series of three 260ft x 60ft x 19ft 6in DP2 OSVs ordered at Eastern by Harvey Gulf. The third of these, Harvey Carrier, is scheduled for delivery in June. The two sister vessels, Harvey Spirit and Harvey Supplier, are already in service," said the report.
