New orders for FarSounder
Equipment & Technology - November 19, 2009
FarSounder has announced the receipt of new orders for the offshore oil and gas industry.
Brittania-U Nigeria Limited, a medium-sized, fully integrated Nigerian oil and gas company in Victoria Island, Lagos, has purchased the first two systems of a three vessel project. The offshore supply vessels Prince Edward and Princess Royale have both installed FarSounder's FS-3DT Forward Looking Sonar.
Commenting on the sale Ian Bowles, VP Sales & Marketing said: "While we have sold to other commercial vessel operators, including survey vessels, this is the first real foray into the offshore oil and gas industry”.
“We are very excited about these particular orders as they reinforce the importance that this technology brings to the navigating table. Ship operators truly can have the ability to see what is ahead of them underwater”, said Mr Bowles.
Brittania-U principal Madam Uju Ijejika, working with Total Instrument & Electrical Services, ordered the sonars through FarSounder dealer Mackay Marine in Houston. Installation and commissioning were performed at Bollinger Shipyards in Morgan City, Louisiana.
