Seabrokers reports good news for pipe carriers

    Projects and Operations // October 8, 2009

Total UK are out for pipelay work associated with the Laggan-Tormore gas condensate project. Located on the edge of the continental shelf 140km west of the Shetland Islands in a water depth of 600m, Laggan-Tormore will be a subsea development concept similar to Ormen Lange in Norway.

The Laggan-Tormore project will involve extensive operations to build a new onshore gas terminal plus subsea facilities and pipelines in a demanding offshore environment. The pipelines required consist of two x 140km 18in flowlines from the field to a processing plant on Shetland plus one 234km 30in export line from Shetland to a tie-in point on the Frigg pipeline.

Seabrokers reported in the latest issue of its monthly report that Allseas with the Solitaire (or Audacia) is the hottest candidate for the pipelay contract.

Commencement of pipelay operations is scheduled for 2011 or 2012 and could be completed within one season.
