BKM completes load out of accommodation block for new barge

    Vessel & ROV News // July 8, 2009

Beng Kuang Marine Limited (BKM) in Singapore has successfully executed the load out of its maiden deckhouse accommodation block, which was constructed at its new 32.8 hectare Batam yard, onto new pipe laying barge.

In September 2008, BKM’s wholly-owned subsidiary Asian Sealand Engineering Pte Ltd secured a S$21.0 million contract from Leighton Contractors (Singapore) Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of one of Australia’s largest development and contracting company, Leighton Holdings Limited.

Subsequent to the load out of the 260 man accommodation and pipe laying barge, BKM will proceed with the fixing and installation of the barge’s controls and instruments. The commissioning and testing of Leighton Eclipse is expected to be in September 2009.
