Island Constructor has been approved for pipeline installation.
Ulstein Group reports that StatoilHydro has received consent to use Island Constructor for installation of pipelines for an exploration well, well 35/2-2, and the mobile offshore drilling unit Transocean Winner.
Transocean Winner is a GVA-4000 type drilling facility, built in 1983 by Gøtaverken Arendal in Sweden. Since then it has undergone modifications and upgrades.
Island Constructor was delivered to the shipowner Island Offshore last year and is an offshore construction and well intervention vessel of the ULSTEIN SX121 type, with the ULSTEIN X-BOW.
The vessel was designed and built by Ulstein Group, and is fitted with a diesel-electric power plant serving two main azimuthing thrusters, two retractable thrusters and two transverse thrusters.
The vessel is equipped, built and certified according to IMO Class 3 for dynamic positioning.
The ship is certified by Det Norske Veritas according to the latest rules for class Clean Design.
