Fjord arrives in Abu Dhabi to commence module transportation projectProjects and Operations // March 25, 2009
Fairstar Heavy Transport has announced that its semi-submesible heavy lift vessel Fjord arrived safely in Abu Dhabi earlier this week, after passing through the Gulf of Aden without incident.
Fairstar has tendered its Notice of Readiness to commence a series of projects requiring voyages from Abu Dhabi to Nigeria.
Dave Hangoor, Operations Manager Fairstar, reported from Abu Dhabi: “Fjord is ready to receive a number of modules that have been constructed here in Abu Dhabi for installation in Nigeria."
"We will roll them onto the deck of Fjord and roll them off once we arrive in Nigeria. This is the first of three trips for Charville (a KBR and Snamprogetti joint venture), and we are excited to be a part of such a high value project."
Mark de Haas, the company's CFO, said: “This contract provides a total of US$23.2 million of gross revenue over 2009. This revenue is a significant contribution to Fairstar’s current financial profile. We expect the first and second quarters to maintain the strong financial performance our company demonstrated in the fourth quarter of last year.”
