Activity levels declining says broker - but not all doom and gloom

    News // March 4, 2009

Seabrokers reports that activity levels worldwide show signs of continuing weakness with owners and operators alike suffering from the economic downdrafts.

"North Sea anchor handling rates have dived this month while PSV rates are hovering around last month’s levels," said Seabrokers in its latest monthly report on the market.

"However, all is not doom and gloom, some analysts consider that we are half way through the current downward cycle and that when the global recovery comes, the oil industry is in good shape to soar again," said the broker.

"Meanwhile, charterers will be able to swoop on good vessel deals for the foreseeable future. "
