Havyard Leirvik establishes Havyard MaritimeNews // May 13, 2005
Havyard Leirvik shipyard in Norway has announced that it has established a combined design and naval architect company, Havyard Maritime AS, and has acquired the trade mark LM design from Leine Maritime AS. Leine Maritime's employees have also joined Havyard Maritime, which is located together with Havyard Leirvik in Fosnavaag.
"This is a very important part of our strategy in Havyard Leirvik AS, where our intention is to focus more on the technology part of shipbuilding, in order to be a better and more complete partner for our customer. Our intention by establishing this newcompany is also to secure that Havyard Leirvik AS get documentation with good quality at the right time according to the progress of the construction," said Geir Johan Bakke, President of Havyard Leirvik.
Havyard Maritime will also sell its services as a naval architect to other shipyards, shipowners and other naval architects, in connection with newbuild and conversion projects.
Havyard Maritime has five employees currently, which is expected to rise to 8-10 in the near future.
