    AHTS Far Scimitar delivered

    Vessel & ROV News // December 16, 2008

Seabrokers reports that Farstadís latest AHTS, the UT 712L design Far Scimitar, was delivered by Brevik shipyard in Norway in November and was soon working in the North Sea spot market.

With dimensions of 78.30m LOA, beam of 17.20m and a draft of 6.80m on 2,750dwt, the vessel is powered by 4 x 2,700kW Rolls Royce Bergen diesels which together with the fwd azimuth thruster develop 15,900bhp giving a bollard pull of 186 tonnes.

Said Seabrokers: "Typical of Farstad tonnage, the vessel is well equipped with deck cranes for cargo and anchor handling operations. The inventory includes two cranes with wire/chain manipulators which are mounted on the cargo rails."

Other enhancements to the specification include a Kongsberg AUTR DP II and accommodation for a total of 28 persons.
