    New HMC barge undertakes maiden voyage

    Heerema Marine Contractors’ (HMC) new barge, the H-405, started its first mobilization from Shanghai to Rotterdam on November 21st.

    The Chinese-built barge has a length of 122m and is 36.6m wide.

    H-405 joins a fleet of three semi-submersible crane vessels (the Thialf, Balder and Hermod), two anchor handling tugs (Retriever and Husky), and eight barges, including the world’s largest, the H-851, at 260m in length.

    Several of the barges can be used to launch jackets.
