Another Skipsteknisk design for Volstad MaritimeVessel & ROV News // November 10, 2008
Naval architects Skipteksnisk has confirme that Volstad Maritime in Aalesund in Norway has ordered another seismic research vessel based on a Skipsteknisk design.
The new vessel is a ST-327L CD with a length of 108m and a beam of 24m.
This is the third seismic vessel Skipsteknisk has designed for Volstad Maritime, and vessel number seven in a series of seismic vessels, dive support vessels and specialized offshore vessels.
The vessel is to be named Geo Chukchi and will be the fourth vessel of this design for Fugro Geoteam. As already highlighted in Offshore Shipping Online, Bergen Group will build also this vessel at their yard at Fosen.
The vessel is designed to tow 16 cables from a 28m wide cable deck. Propulsion system is diesel-electric with twin propellers and four diesel generators. Accommodation is arranged for 72 persons, all in single cabins.
