Bergen Group awarded contract to build seismic vessel for VolstadYard News // November 7, 2008
Bergen Group in Norway has, through its subsidiaries Bergen Group Fosen and Bergen Group Landskrona, been awarded a contract by Volstad Maritime AS in Ålesund, Norway, to build and outfit a seismic vessel.
The vessel will be designed by Skipsteknisk in Norway and will be chartered by Fugro from Volstad Maritime. The total value of the contract is NKr 689 million.
The contract is the fifth vessel contracted by Volstad Maritime at Bergen Group. Earlier vessels built for Volstad Maritime by Bergen Group inlcudde the Diving Support Vessel Bibby Topaz; the multipurpose ROV/trencher Volantis; and the seismic vessel, Geowave Endeavour.
The Group is currently outfitting the fourth of the vessels, yard number 81, another multipurpose ROV/trencher.
"We are very pleased to be awarded yet another order by Volstad Maritime”, said Arnar Utseth, CEO at Bergen Group Fosen. “To be awarded the fifth large contract from the same customer is excellent feedback with respect to our competence and capabilities”, Mr Utseth addded.
Bergen Group's shipbuilding division currently has a total order backlog of NKr 8 million, including Letters of Intent.
