Havyard Leirvik signs newbuiding contract with Garware OffshoreYard News // November 4, 2008
Havyard's 832 L SE is derived from the popular 832 CD PSV design.
Indian owner Garware Offshore Services Ltd has signed contract with Havyard Leirvik AS in Norway for delivery of a Havyard 832 L SE PSV in October 2010.
Garware Offshore has already taken delivery of three PSVs from Havyard Leirvik AS and the fourth is to be delivered early next year. This new contract will be the fifth newbuilding the Indian owner has ordered from Havyard Leirvik. The contract is valued at approximately US$55 million, and the owner also has an option for an additional vessel for delivery in January 2011.
Havyard Design developed the Havyard 832 L SE design, which is based on the popular Havyard 832 CD.
Compared to a standard Havyard 832 CD the new design is lengthened and has larger superstructure. This gives the Havyard 832 L SE more deadweight, accommodation for more people and is more flexible with regards to type of work it can perform.
In addition to normal supply functions the design can be built to perform light construction work and general inspection, maintenance and repair work on subsea offshore installations.
The vessel is also prepared for future installation of offshore crane and ROV handling systems, and is also prepared for a moonpool.
Havyard will also deliver a Havyard IASTM alarm and automation system and ConceptBridgeT integrated bridge system.
Said Havyard Lerivik: "For Havyard Leirvik this contract is very important. In addition to secure work for the employees at the shipyard it also shows that our customers appreciate what the shipyard has delivered."
The HAVYARD 832 L SE has the following main dimensions:
Deadweight 4,500 tonnes
Cargo deck 812m2
Accommodation 54 persons
"While other designs in this segment are primarily built on speculation we see that most of the ordered Havyard 832 CDs already are committed on long term charters," said the company.
