Huisman wins drillship contractVessel & ROV News // September 30, 2008
The Netherlands-based Huisman has been awarded a contract for the new Huisman-designed drillship, the Huisdrill 10,000, with further options for another three vessels. The contract was awarded by a subsidiary of Noble Drilling Corp.
The drilling equipment on board the vessels will be based on a drilling mast with pipe storage in carousels as currently under construction for the 'Bully' rigs on order for Frontier Drilling/Shell.
The new vessel will be built by Korean shipyard STX in a newly constructed location in Dalian, China.
Huisman is responsible not only for design and construction of the drilling equipment but also for the concept design of the entire vessel.
