    SMD wins COOEC contract for two WROVs

    SMD in the UK has been awarded a contract to supply two 1,000m rated work class ROVs to Offshore Oil Engineering Co Ltd of China (COOEC). 

    Two 150hp Quantum units will be supplied, each complete with launch and recovery system, control cabin and workshop cabin all designed and built by SMD. 

    Commenting on the award, Michael Jones, Sales Director at SMD said: “We are delighted to be continuing our long relationship with COOEC to double their existing fleet of SMD supplied work class ROVs. Through this we will assist COOEC with their stated aim of becoming an internationally competitive and influential specialised engineering company in the energy industry. It also further strengthens our strong position in the supply of Work Class ROVs and other subsea vehicles to the offshore market in the Asia Pacific Region”.
     
    The 150hp SMD Quantum is a powerful construction class Work Class ROV and is part of the comprehensive range of SMD Q-series ROVs. 
     
    The equipment will be supported by SMD's exclusive agent in China, Bluewhale Offshore Engineering Co Ltd.
