Gunvor and Tore Ulstein accept the award from OSJ's Editor, David Foxwell.
Island Constructor, an ULSTEIN SX121 design offshore construction vessel/well intervention vessel built by Ulstein Verft, received Offshore Support Journal's (OSJ) prestigious 2008 'Ship of the Year' award at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg on September 24th.
OSJ is the leading magazine covering the offshore support vessel market, and has subscribers in 105 countries.
"Achieving the 'Ship of the Year' 2008 award states that Ulstein is recognised for the constant focus on developing new solutions and systems. This is also a great inspiration for generating new innovations and future oriented vessels in the years to come," said Ulstein Group CEO Gunvor Ulstein.
Island Constructor was chosen as OSJ’s ‘Ship of the Year’ 2008 as a result of the vessel’s particularly versatile and innovative design. Island Constructor is a very impressive vessel in many ways, with many innovations and important ‘firsts.'
Ulstein also won this prestigious award from Offshore Support Journal in 2006 with the anchor handling tug supply vessel Bourbon Orca, the first vessel delivered with the characteristic ULSTEIN X-BOW.
