Capital Signal Company Limited of Trinidad recently completed the purchase of the standby/supply vessel Grampian Supporter (ex-Grampian Freedom, ex-Maersk Puncher) from sellers Craig Group Limited of Aberdeen, UK on private terms.
Grampian Supporter was built in 1976 by J. Pattje of Holland as an offshore supply vessel for Maersk and converted in 1991 to a standby safety vessel. She measures 207ft x 46ft x 19ft with draft of about 16ft on 1,942 tonne deadweight.
The vessel is powered by two MAK 6M452AK main engines
producing a total of 3,200bhp driving twin fixed pitch propellers. She is also fitted with one Ulstein TV90 400bhp tunnel bow thruster.
Electrical generation is provided by three Detroit Diesel auxiliaries producing 600kVa.
Grampian Supporter is classed DNV +1A1, Ice Class C,
Safety Standby Rescue.
Until delivery, she was working offshore UK, but is now bound for Trinidad and Tobago under her new name Native Pride where she will continue work in the oilfield, this time primarily as a survey vessel.
