Island Constructor mobilises for first assignmentVessel & ROV News // July 4, 2008
Ulstein Group in Norway reports that the riserless well intervention vessel Island Constructor has arrived at Aberdeen and was due to be under contract with UWG Ltd from July 1st.
“The voyage over the North Sea went extremely well,” reported Island Offshore’s project manager Trond Hauge. “Island Constructor maintained good speed throughout, with low fuel consumption. The charterers have now boarded the ship and are very impressed – so everybody’s happy!”
Island Constructor is due to head for its first assignment very shortly - a P&A (plug and abandon) project.
The vessel will remove the wellhead and plug the holes of empty wells. The initial contract is for four weeks, with an option for a two-week extension.
