ST Technologies Marine to build AHTS for Lewek ShippingYard News // May 8, 2008
Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd has announced that its marine arm, Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine), has secured a US$19.38 million contract to build an anchor handler for Lewek Shipping Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ezra Holdings Limited.
Construction is scheduled to begin late this year at ST Marine's yard in Singapore and delivery is planned for second half of 2009.
The twin-screw AHTS vessel is designed for multi-purpose roles and operations in unrestricted waters, with capabilities ranging from transporting fresh water, towing drilling rigs, anchor handling, rescue services and fire fighting.
The vessel will have a high level of manoeuvrability and dynamic positioning capability using twin controllable pitch propellers, twin rudders and transverse bow and stern thrusters linked to a DP-enabled joystick control.
With approximately 150 tonnes of static bollard pull, measuring 73.7m long with a breadth of 16.0m, the new AHTS vessel will join Ezra's deepwater fleet.
