Latest Dockwise heavy lifter starts conversion process

    Vessel & ROV News // April 29, 2008

The former Sealift/Frontline Suezmax tanker Marble, now owned by a subsidiary of Dockwise Ltd, and renamed Triumph, was accepted by Cosco Guangdong Shipyard on April 18th, 2008 for conversion into a heavy lift vessel.

The conversion from a tanker into a heavy lift vessel will see  the renewal of the entire midship section after removing the original cargo section.
Construction of the new midship section started in October 2007 and is reaching completion. The new midship section of 130m x 44.5m x 14m, which will replace the old midbody of 174m x 44.5m x 24m, will be joined to the original bow and stern section.
Dockwise said the conversion of the other single hull Suezmax tankers it is converting into semi-submersible heavy lift vessels is in full progress, and the last four vessels will join its fleet later in 2008, starting with Talisman in May.
