Van Oord awarded cable lay contractProjects and Operations // March 27, 2008
Van Oord in The Netherlands has been awarded a contract to lay a 150kV cable. The cable will be situated between Ellewoutsdijk and Terneuzen in The Netherlands, and the contract is worth Euros 23 million. The project will be executed in joint venture with Visser & Smit Hanab. Van Oord' s share in the joint venture is 48 per cent.
The client is public utilities company Delta Infra BV, and the project isdue to start on May 1st next and is scheduled for completion in November 2008.
Two cable bundles will be laid across the river Westerscheldt. Van Oord will the deploy cutter suction dredger HAM 250, trailing suction hopper dredger Geopotes 14, side stone dumping vessel Frans, water injection dredger Jetsed and crane barge Viking (Paans).
