Schlumberger teams with TSMarine on well intervention

    News // February 21, 2008

Schlumberger and TSMarine (Contracting) Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore the market for expansion of subsea well intervention services in the UK market.

The combined effort would explore possibilities for operators to carry out diagnostic and remedial operations to restore production and improve reservoir recovery, without having to use a drilling rig.

Schlumberger will supply wireline and other well services functions, in addition to well engineering expertise.

TSMarine will provide vessels, marine services, subsea lubricators and a full deployment package.

“By working together, we will be able to pool our experience and expertise in rigless intervention to provide a co-ordinated service to the industry, which to date has very limited access in the North Sea and beyond,” said Alasdair Cowie, CEO, TSMarine. "In addition, offering experienced personnel who are dedicated to rigless subsea operations, will decrease mobilization costs to our clients.”

“Schlumberger and TSMarine are offering a joint approach to meet client’s needs for well servicing in the region,” said Gordon Ballard, chairman, Schlumberger UK. “Our integrated service provides the optimum solution for resolving subsea well problems.”

The compaies noted that the vessel Normand Flower is expected to commence work in mid-2008.
