Synergy Shipbuilding to build PSVs at new facilityNews // January 25, 2008
Local news sources say about 400 new jobs could come to Houma on the U S Gulf Coast with the signing of a multi-year lease by Port of Terrebonne with Synergy Shipbuilding, which has leased five acres from the port for US$3,000 a month and intends to build a facility capable of constructing 330ft OSVs.
Synergy's CEO and President said he plans to invest US$100-120 million setting up facilities for his company over the next two years, eventually leasing more land from the port.
Despite the current lack of facilities, Underwood said his company will start building ships in February using floating platforms. He said he’s already receiving orders from customers.
