    Vessel & ROV News // December 14, 2007

Cyprus-based shipowner EDT Offshore Ltd is to build two PX 105 PSVs at Astilleros De Sevilla shipyard in Spain.

These two vessels have extensive under-deck cargo-carrying capability, and will be delivered in April and August 2009. The order is designed to strengthen EDT’s position in the Mediterranean offshore market.

Broker Seabrokers, which brokered the deal, said the two vessels will come equippedwith DP II and the Ulstein X-BOW hullform.

Said Seabrokers: "Although both of these Cypriot-flagged PX 105 newbuilds are uncommitted at present, EDT has had a lot of interest from potential charterers for term work."

The newbuilds will be 88.8m overall with a breadth of 19m, depth to main deck of 8m, maximum draft of 6.6m, speed of 15.5 knots, accommodation for 23, 4 x 1580ekW main generators, a deadweight of 4,700 tonnes, and deck load of 3,000 tonnes. The cargo deck area will be 985m2.

The DP class vessels will have the option of being fitted with the PG MACS multi-purpose cargo carrying system, will bear the class notation 'Clean Design,' Comf-V (3), and Ice Class C, and have FiFI class 1.
