Swire Pacific Offshore to acquire Havyard design anchor handlers

    Vessel & ROV News // June 27, 2007

The new AHTS was developed by Havyard Maritime and Swire Pacific Offshore.

Swire Pacific Offshore in Singapore has contracted four large Havyard 844 anchor handlers at Pan United Marine shipyard in Singapore.

"This is another great breakthrough for the Havyard designs as Swire Pacific Offshore is one of the major operators of offshore supply vessels worldwide," said Havyard group in a statement.

Swire Pacific Offshore owns and operates over 60 offshore support vessels. The fleet includes more than 50 AHTS, as well as PSVs, AHTs, seismic survey vessels, safety standby vessels, ROV support/dive support vessels and maintenance/accommodation support vessels.

Havyard Maritime collaborated closely with Swire Pacific Offshore over a longer period in developing the Havyard 844.

The designer describes the Havyard 844 AHTS as having been developed especially to support floating offshore installations operating in deep waters and harsh environments.

The vessels will be equipped with a 500 tonne anchor handling winch and wil have a bollard pull exceeding 200 tonnes. They will also have ice class for operating in Arctic waters and 'Clean Design' class notation.

The size of the vessels provides for good deck cargo and tank capacities making the vessel very well suited for general supply services.

The Havyard 844 will be the known within Swire Pacific Offshore as the 'D' class and are intended for worldwide operation.

The vessels are 87.50m overall with a breadth of 20.00m.

There are now 25 vessels under construction to Havyard Maritime design for owners worldwide.
