Siem Offshore orders two more large AHTS at Kleven

    Vessel & ROV News // May 1, 2007

Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway, in co-operation with its sister yard Myklebust Verft, has signed two contracts with Siem Offshore in Kristiansand, Norway, for construction of two large and environmentally friendly VS 491 CD anchor handlers.

Siem Offshore already has six identical vessels under construction with Kleven Verft and Myklebust Verft.

The vessels are 91.0m overall, with a beam of 22.0m and installed power of 19,000kW, with capacity on the winch of 550 tonnes. Their bollard pull is calculated at 300 tonnes.

The combination of environmentally friendly design and excellent anchor handling capacity makes the vessels especially suitable for operations in the North Sea. The accommodation provides space for 60.

The hull is strengthened according to Ice Class C, and the ships are prepared for an 'A' frame and ROV garage.

The vessels will be delivered in March and June 2010.

Siem Offshore now has 12 contracts with Kleven.
