    Bourbon Skagerak to lay world's longest power cable

    Bourbon Offshore's cable layer Bourbon Skagerak has been chartered to lay the world's longest power cable between Norway and the Netherlands.As Seabrokers reports, the project is called Norned and is a joint project between the Norwegian Statnett and Dutch Tennet companies.The authorities of both countries have given the go ahead and the project will be performed between 2006-2007.In order to comply, the Bourbon Skagerak will undergo significant upgrades during the summer, including a hull extension, installing helideck, elevating the ridge, a new DP system and a general modernisation of the interior.The cable handling equipment will also undergo upgrades by Odim.
