IHC Holland Merwede takes a majority interest in newly formed Verenigde Scheepswerf HeusdenNews // March 19, 2007
IHC Holland Merwede has announced that the Group has decided to participate as a majority shareholder, together with Van Sluisveld Beheer, in a newly established company, Verenigde Scheepswerf Heusden (VSH).
The company will be based in Heusden, The Netherlands, on the site of the former Heusden Shipyards BV.
VSH will employ most of the 75 permanent employees already working at the location, and rent the real estate from Van Sluisveld.
The yard has considerable production and pre-fabrication facilities as well as two slipways.
Based on its current orderbook and the market outlook, said IHC Holland Merwede, the company needs more pre-fabrication and section building capacity.
VSH will concentrate primarily on preparatory work and on section building for the other IHC Holland Merwede yards.
