Highest ever turnout expected at Subsea 07

    News // February 6, 2007
A record turnout of more than 1,000 delegates is expected at Subsea UK’s annual flagship event - Subsea 07 - this week.

The largest ever number of visitors will attend Europe’s biggest subsea conference and exhibition at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday (February 8) to hear about the challenge of delivering the demands of the international subsea industry.

Ciaran O’Donnell of event sponsor, CSL, is not surprised by the high attendance. He says: "Whatever your perspective - as a major operator or independent oil and gas company, a contractor, a supplier or an employee - there's nowhere else you'll find such a wealth of subsea expertise and experience, under one roof on the same day.  The turnout is testimony to the event's success and the value it delivers across all facets of the subsea industry."

Nearly 90 exhibitors representing the full spectrum of the subsea sector will attend the one-day event which showcases cutting-edge technology and the latest innovations and services.

The conference will feature high profile speakers including Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne; Paul Tooms, BP’s global head of subsea; Knut Boe, senior vice-president of operations for Technip in Paris and Ciaran O’Donnell, chief executive at CSL. They will each address the supply and demand issues facing the industry from their very different business perspectives.

Subsea UK chief executive, David Pridden, said: “We are delighted to have secured our highest ever turnout for this year’s conference. Subsea 07 will focus on the utilization of resources for subsea developments including vessel utilization, subsea equipment availability and the broader theme of people skills and attracting more people into the subsea industry. The challenge is to deliver what the international industry is currently demanding by best utilizing the available resources.”

The evening before the event, a networking dinner and inaugural awards ceremony will take place. The awards will recognise the hard work of both organisations and individuals involved in all aspects of the subsea industry. The categories are Subsea Company of the Year, Best Young Personality of the Year and Greatest Individual Contribution to the Subsea Industry.

Subsea 07 is sponsored by Acteon Group Limited and CSL with support from Balmoral Offshore Engineering and Offshore Engineer magazine. The dinner is being sponsored by Acergy
