ABG Shipyard in India has announced details of a glut of order that includes three dry bulk carriers of 54,000dwt and a total of nine AHTS from Singapore-based Pacific First Shipping.
Lloyd's Register Fairplay's Daily Newbuilding News reported on January 17th that all will be built at ABG's new shipyard in Dahej in Gujarat, which is expected to go operational by June/July.
Delivery of all the vessels is expected by December 2009.
The order has reportedly helped ABG Shipyard enhance its orderbook position to around US$722 million.
The yard's managing director Rishi Agarwal said the order marked the company's entry into large ship construction, and bolstered its position in offshore vessel construction.
