IMarEST launches employment serviceNews // November 22, 2006
The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) has launched a new marine professional employment service for its worldwide membership. The service is open to marine companies looking for qualified and skilled professionals; and for IMarEST members looking for a change of career or job.
“This is a service aimed at our 15,000 members in over a hundred countries and one that we expect they will use to the full,” says IMarEST’s Chief Executive, Keith Read CBE. “It has been launched in response to companies contacting us about recruitment and feedback from our members. We believe that a professional employment service aimed specifically at the marine engineering, science and technology community will be an invaluable addition to the benefits we offer members; and of great use to the full range of maritime industries in which they work.”
IMarEST’s newly appointed Members' Employment Manager, Tim Simms, is charged with managing the employment register and identifying appropriate vacancies from within the global maritime community.
“I am very enthusiastic about this service,” he explains. “We have a growing employment register of marine professionals looking for immediate work. The fact that they are members of IMarEST, a professional institute, means that employers can be assured of qualified individuals who are educated, competent, and experienced. This is what makes the service unique. By matching client and candidate needs, my goal is to become the recruiter of choice for marine companies. Companies are already asking why we haven’t done this before, and IMarEST members are equally enthusiastic and eager to register their details with us.”
Members in search of new career and job opportunities are encouraged to send their CVs and details of the type of position they are seeking to Tim Simms email@example.com, IMarEST’s job recruitment specialist, who has joined the Institute after over 20 years experience of company recruitment needs having worked in HR and recruitment companies.
Similarly, employers – marine companies and IMarEST Marine Partners - with vacancies are invited to send details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
