Arrow Seismic acquires new source vesselVessel & ROV News // November 10, 2006
Arrow Seismic, the 54 per cent owned subsidiary of GC Rieber Shipping, has entered into agreement to purchase the 1992-built cargo vessel Sophie for US$6.75 million.
Arrow also has an option to purchase a sister vessel built in 1993 at a similar price.
Arrow, having access to winches and compressors for delivery in 2007, is planning to convert the vessels into source vessels.
The size of the vessels (92m x 17m) is sufficient for a further rigging of streamer winches, enabling them to operate as mulltistreamer 3-D vessels.
This alternative is being evaluated, depending on the availability of a propulsion upgrade.
