Kleven to build six sophisticated AHTS for Siem OffshoreNews // October 31, 2006
Kleven Maritime is to build six VS 491 CD AHTS for Siem Offshore.
Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway has signed contracts with Siem Offshore for the construction of six large and environmentally friendly anchor handling vessels of the Vik Sandvik VS 491 CD design.
The contracts includes options for delivery of six similar vessels.
The vessels are sophisticated anchor handling vessels with supply vessel capacities and the value of the contract is NKr 3.2 billion, making it the largest single order in the history of Kleven Maritime.
The vessels will be 91.0m in length, with a beam of 22.0m with an installed power of 19,000kW, and winch capacity of 500 tonnes. Bollard pull is calculated at 300 tonnes.
The combination of environmentally friendly design and large capacity makes these vessels especially well suited for operations in the North Sea. The accommodation is designed for 60.
The vessels' hulls will be reinforced to work in ice, and will be prepared for A-frame and ROV hangar.
Deliveries will start in May 2009 and be completed in March 2010, with the optional vessels to be delivered in 2010.
