Solstad goes to Flekkefjord for new construction vesselYard News // September 15, 2006
In July Solstad Offshore announced details of a deal it had concluded with Subsea 7 for a large construction vessel for a fixed period of six years plus four yearly options.
Solstad has now announced that it has entered into a Letter of Intent with Flekkefjord Slipp og Maskinfabrikk AS for the construction of the vessel, which will be 113m overall with a breadth of 24m.
The ship will be purpose-built for the Inspection Maintenance and Repair (IMR) market.
The vessel design is being developed in close cooperation between Solstad, Subsea 7 and naval architects Vik-Sandvik.
On delivery of the new vessel, Solstad Offshore will operate a total of 11 vessels on this type.
