Aker Yards to build two more construction vessels for DOFCONYard News // August 22, 2006
Aker Yards is to build two large construction vessels for DOFCON. Both vessels will be delivered from Aker Yards' site at Søviknes in Norway. The value of the two contracts is approximately NKr 1,175 million.
The first vessel will be of the Aker OSCV 06 L design, developed by Aker Yards, and will be delivered from in the spring of 2009. The vessel is 153m long with DP Class 3 and Ice Class, and will have a maximum speed of 18.5 knots, which is of significant importance for global operations in order to minimize mobilization time.
The second vessel is scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2008 and will be 118m long, and will be equipped with a 250 tonne offshore crane, and have DP Class 3. This vessel is also an Aker Yards design.
Aker Yards currently has 13 vessels on order for DOFCON, DOF and GEO, of which 10 are of Aker Yards design.
