Trico Marine Services in the US has announced that it is "pleased and relieved" to confirm the safe release late in the day on August 15th 2006 of its four employees who were abducted from a supply vessel operating offshore the Niger Delta, Nigeria, West Africa.
The four men, two Norwegians and two Ukrainians, were abducted late in the evening on August 8th.
Trico was working for Peak Petroleum at the time of the attack. All four employees will undergo medical examinations and a thorough de-briefing from company personnel before
returning to their homes.
Trevor Turbidy, President and Chief Executive Officer, said: "Trico wishes to express its sincere appreciation to all of those who contributed to the successful resolution of this harrowing ordeal - Peak Petroleum, the local officials in Nigeria, the governments of Norway, the Ukraine and the US, our outside security advisors and countless others who reached out to assist the company during this time. We appreciate the hard work and support of our colleagues around the world and are extremely grateful that the four workers were released unharmed and returned home to be with their families.”
