    Ezra orders offshore crange barge

    Vessel & ROV News // August 9, 2006

EZRA Holdings Limited in Singapore has announced that it has ordered a 300ft accommodation work and crane barge that will have a helideck big enough to land a Sikorsky helicopter, a heavy lift pedestal crane, and enough space to accommodate 300.

The integrated solutions provider in the offshore oil and gas industry announced that wholly-owned subsidiary Lewek Shipping Pte Ltd has awarded a contract to Labroy Shipbuilding Offshore Ltd to build its second accommodation work and crane barge for US$8.85 million.

”This order enhances our already wide and integrated capability in the offshore oil and gas support services sector. We are now able to tap an even greater share of the demand we are experiencing from the increasing number of discoveries in oil and gas worldwide, particularly in Asia, our own backyard. With these discoveries will come significant demand for infrastructure. Construction and pre-fabrication work on such infrastructure can be undertaken in our Vietnamese base, then transported and
assembled on-site by our vessels,” said Mr Lionel Lee, Ezra’s Managing Director.

Mr Lee added: “Our offshore construction is poised to provide a comprehensive one-stop service solution to infrastructure needs not only in greenfields, but also in brownfields in terms of work on or upgrading existing aging structures and platforms. We expect the offshore construction division to enhance the Group’s profitability and overall returns.”

The latest accommodation work and crane barge, scheduled to be delivered in January/February 2007, will raise the competitive edge of Ezra’s offshore construction division, which comprises the heavy lift crane barge Lewek Conqueror and a 142m DP2 heavy lift 360-man accommodation pipelay vessel.

The group’s fleet of anchor handling towing and supply tugs, anchor handling tugs, and Lewek Conqueror have been enjoying rising charter rates since 2003. By 2007, EZRA will have 31 vessels under management, including those currently under sale and leaseback agreements.
