    Aker Promar and Chouest to invest in Rio state

    Aker Promar reportedly plans to invest 100mn reais (US$45.7 million) in the construction of a new shipyard in the northern region of Rio de Janeiro state.

    According to Rigzone, quoting a statement by the state government, US offshore support company Edison Chouest will invest 10mn reais through local subsidiary Alfanave in the construction of an offshore support base in the same region, close to the town of Quissama and Brazil's oil industry hub of Macae.

    Rigzone said Aker Promar's new shipbuilding facility in the country - its second - will be large enough to build and carry out maintenance on large ships and oil production platforms.
