Cruise ship could play role in Ormen Lange development

    News // July 31, 2006

A Hurtigruten ferry could provide accommodation for Ormen Lange.

Norsk Hydro has revealed that its talking to the Hurtigruten Group about chartering a cruise ship used on the Hurtigruten coastal route in order to ensure that it has sufficient sleeping accommodation during the peak staffing phase for the Ormen Lange project this autumn.
Chartering the ship could provide Hydro with an extra 200-300 beds for staff working on the project.

Over 3,000 people are due to live and work at Nyhamna in Aukra municipality during the planned peak staffing period in the development of the land-based facility for the Ormen Lange gas field.

The Hurtigruten ship will probably dock near the land-based processing plant at Nyhamna at the beginning of September.
