    Swiftships building for Candy Fleet

    The newbuilds at Swiftships are sister vessels to Candy Apple and Bear.

    In a continuation of a longstandingrelationship between them, Swiftships Shipbuilders of Morgan City is building a pair of 170ft crew boats for the Candy Fleet, also of Morgan City.

    The new vessels will be numbers 13 and 14 in the Candy Fleet of crewboats and sisters to two existing vessels - Candy Apple and Candy Bear.

    The first vessel will be delivered at the end of July.

    Specifications for the new boats are: overall length 170ft; maximum beam 30ft; deck space 105ft x 24ft; deck capacity 190 long tons; hull depth 13ft; passengers 60; crew of five; speed 28 knots.

    Capacities include: fuel 5,800 gals; transferable fuel 17,000 gals; transferable potable water 24,800 gals; sewage tank 720 gals; ballast tank 12,200 gals.

    The machinery takes the form of four IMO & EPA Tier 1 compliant Cummins KTA 38-M1 12-cylinder, turbo-charged and after-cooled, four cycle engines of 1,350hp each driving Hamilton HM 651 propulsion units.
