Offshore orders for SAM ElectronicsEquipment & Technology // July 12, 2006
SAM Electronics Norge of Oslo, a subsidiary of Hamburg, Germany-based SAM Electronics, has been awarded a contract for supply of NACOS 55-5 integrated navigation command systems for installation aboard four 93m, 5,100 dwt offshore support vessels, three of which are under construction at Aker Brattvaag shipyard in Norway and one at the Fosen Mek Verksteder in St Petersburg for delivery to Volstad Shipping of Alesund next year.
The functionally integrated systems and associated sensors feature combined radar-controlled track-keeping and ECDIS functions.
A similar NACOS assembly has also been commissioned for a 109m, 6,200-dwt vessel being built by Brattvaag Skipsverft at Tulcea on behalf of Ostensjo Rederi.
Also due for completion next year, the vessel will be used for inspection, maintenance and repair work as well as support of ROV operations.
These latest orders for SAM Electronics Norge follow its recent retrofitting of identical NACOS 55-5 systems to three Norwegian Coast Guard offshore patrol vessels. The subsidiary company also specialises in the distribution and servicing of other proprietary shipborne systems, including those for fishing and hydrographic survey applications.
