    News // July 3, 2006

Rolls-Royce is supplying propulsion and deck gear for the UT761 CD.

Rolls-Royce has confirmed that the construction vessel that Aker Yards is to build for Rolls-Royce is its largest ever in terms of the design and equipment package for the ship, which is worth close to £20 million for the company.

The UT761 CD  will be the world’s most powerful offshore vessel with a pulling power of more than 350 tonnes and will carry out long-term construction work for Italian company Saipem’s UK division.

”This is the largest single order in Farstad Shipping’s history. This contract means that we fully enter the deep underwater operation market. We are pleased with the trust Saipem have shown us and we will have a central role in Saipem's offshore operations for a long time," said Farstad Shipping CEO Karl- Johan Bakken.

”The vessel will be an advanced and comprehensive working place for 100 persons,” said Rolls-Royce designer Sigmund Borgundvåg. Rolls-Royce will supply all the engines, propulsion systems, deck machinery and automation and control systems for the UT761 CD.
